Mike (@MikePlantGC) fondly remembers a time when Mode 7 was king, Mario and Sonic would sooner die than share an Olympic event and when a console by Atari was something to look forward to (RIP Atari Jaguar).

Only thing I was expecting was a more crazy/unexpected finale. Because male players become heavily attached to female character (like Joaquin Phoenix in the movie “Her” :)) and obviously immersed in the whole game world – a cool solution(s) to the story would have been Delilah loosing it and freaking out (like in “Her”) or admitting she is in love with Henry(in a psychotic way) or admitting she is behind all the murders/disappearances or admitting that she has been playing the same walkie-talkie flirt game with all the guys in the other towers too (suddenly taking away that “you’re so special” feeling would have been a huge punch in the gut for players :)) or admitting she is crippled and her face is fully burned from a forest fire 10 years ago and that is why she has been working there for 10 years. Or all of them or a combination of some of them 🙂 So basically what I’m saying is that I was so immersed in the game, that I was emotionally totally vulnerable and a total “mindfuck” of an ending would have been a cherry on top.

The solutions to all the red herrings/mysteries should have evolved around Delilah in the end. She was the key to the whole game, the key to the ultra-high emotional attachment and the charm the game achieved. If a player falls in love with the enigma, then there are many ways to totally blow player’s mind in the end. Not in the x-files huge conspiracy reveal way but in a emotional way like Hitchcock.

Yeah, I tend to agree, T. there was definitely something missing either revolving around Delilah or Henry’s actual wife. It feels like Campo Santo got 95% of the way there but then managed to just under-cook the ending a fraction. Still loved the game though.

Cheers for the comments by the way, we’re now working our way through Far Cry Primal, so if you’ve picked that up send across your thoughts to @quitorcontinue or mailus@quitorcontinue.com and we’ll happily read them out on the show.

      Take it easy,

      Mike
